PIECE OF CAKE

Meaning

A straightforward task that can easily be accomplished.

Origin

This phrase is of American origin. At least, the earliest citation of it that I can find is from the American poet and humorist Ogden Nash's Primrose Path, 1936:

"Her picture's in the papers now, And life's a piece of cake."

BLINK OF AN EYE

a very short time (as the time it takes the eye to blink or the heart to beat); "if I had the chance I'd do it in a flash"

POEMS SHORTS

Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining:
I've looked up to the sky,
Counted all the clouds with a silver lining,
There are none.
Not one single trace of silver in the grey.
